Pleasure of a Dark Prince
(Immortals After Dark, Book 9)
by Kresley Cole
I must say it again, Immortals After Dark Series is my favorite! I've been waiting for this book for a long time (ok, only a year…I started reading this series last year, gobbling up all eight books in record time)so thank you Kresely Cole for being so merciful and producing a savory tale to add to the collection. With that being said, Kresley Cole's first IAD book, A Hunger Like No Other gave us a small feature when Garreth the Lyake and the Valkyrie Lucia encounter each other at the Valkyrie mansion. Since then, I've wondered when Ms. Cole would write their story.
Garreth a true Lykae prince, has never given up on the survival of his long lost brother and true king, Lachlain, has finally found his mate…Lucia (try saying it with a Scottish accent and you get Lousha). A fierce Valkryie who's archery skills are so great, she is simply known as the Huntress. But she also has some very deep dark secrets, and when I say deep, I mean depths of hell deep. When Lousha finally sees the dirt drenched, and very drunk Garreth at a football match of immortals, he not only catches her eye but stirs something inside of her. Lousha knows Garreth will be her undoing because she considers breaking her oath of chastity: but breaking it would mean the end of the world. So she runs, leading Garreth on a, sometimes life threatening, chase that not only last for a year, but makes him more determined to use whatever means necessary (blackmail and forced promises, seem the order of things) to get what he wants…Lousha. The amusing chase around the world culminates in the Amazon, where they are both stuck on a decrepit ship with a bunch of geeky scientific mortals. Garreth must protect and help Lousha, but BIG MONSTERS, a sleeping evil, suicidal men and riches beyond their wildest dreams are just a few of the obstacles in their way. And of course….let's not forget…the deep dark secrets and the END OF THE WORLD part.
After nine books, ok really after the fourth book, I get the feeling that all the stories are happening at the same time and are all linked to the Ascension, which is a check and balances battle between immortals, and possibly being concocted by a very clever and often never lucid Soothsayer / Oracle / Valkryie…and that would none other than Nuking Futs Nix! All the action was so intense I had to stay up until 4am to find a decent place to stop (websites don't just create themselves you know) without dreaming about all of the um… good, bad and ugly parts throughout the night. Not only did the action keep me at the edge of my seat but this book featured deliciously sinful interaction between Lousha and Garrath…Yea! Who knew being on an old rickety ship, about to fall apart, driven by a very drunk captain and even stranger crew could prove to the perfect setting to be naughty.
I can't wait for the next installment of IAD…which when you visit Kresley Cole's Offical Website says Up Next: Demon from the Dark August 31, 2010. Oh and I can't forget, thanks to ebooks.com for having this title available for immediate download…ah technology.
