Demon Moon
(Guardians Series, Book 2)
By Meljean Brook
This is a world where Demons, Nosferatu and Guardians are in constant struggle of Good and Evil. I also recommend reading Waiting for Anthony in Hot Spell and Demon Angel before reading this book, there is a lot of background information that you need to know before appreciating the ingenuity of Demon Moon.
Colin Ames-Beaumont was handsome a mere mortal, but now as a Nosferatu born vampire he is "stunningly handsome". You think this means he has everything he wants, but his outer beauty doesn't solve his major problem; his blood is tainted. He can't share his blood with another vampire (which is what these vampires do) or a consort. So, he has to live on human blood, humans who won't remember him as more than a wonderful dream. He also has an anchor to Choas…before his vampire transformation, his mortal blood was mixed with the blood of Michael's sword which was used to kill a Choas Dragon. Yes, lots going on inside that beautiful vampire.
Savarti is a brainy, quirky ridden, exotic computer programmer/hacker (my favorite part of the book, kind-of reminds me of someone I know…) who wants Colin but she knows he is the last person/vampire she should have. As a child she suffered a great lose, her parents and brother were gunned down in front of her, and has been running from her feelings ever since.
Throughout the book Savarti and Colin's attraction kept me in suspense! How would they solve their problems; take the "bite" and hope for the best?
This book is not for the faint of heart, Brook doesn't spare details on the intense gore of her monsters or the scorching passion between Colin and Savarti. The characters are very intricate and deeply layered, everything has a double meaning, and I had to re-read some parts to make sure I didn't miss any subtleties. Great read and I'm excited for the next book in the series, Demon Night, Yea! And to see her booklist go to Meljean Brook Official Website…and eBooks.com DID have this in digital format. Whoo-hoo, no reading light needed.
