Darkest Fire
(prequel to Lords of the Underworld Series)
by Gena Showalter
So, I'm pretty sure if you follow my blog (and if you don't know, I'm telling you now) one of my favorite authors is Kresley Cole. Well, in her last book Untouchable in a Deep Kiss of Winter, Cole raved about Gena Showalter and since I love Cole's work, I though I'd give Showalter a try.
My first impression is…WHOA! Awesome start to the Lords of the Underworld, hook, line, and sinker! Kadence is the goddess of Oppression, who because of her bad behavior, has been punished and is bonded to be the keeper of the Wall. The Wall holds the worlds worst demons- Violence, Disease, Wrath, Death, Doubt…just to name a few -in the Pit. The Wall also has a Guardian named Geryon who is half-man-half-beast, who guards it from any attempts of escape. On one of Kadence's inspection of the Wall, she discover a crack. In order to protect the mortal world- and Kadence -from the demons escaping they both must venture into the Pit and destroy the Demons.
Great writing, suspense, and desire! Tie-in to mythical lore is pretty clever as well…So now to read the next book in the series…it has something to do with Pandora's box.
Gena Showalter is now in my top 5 authors, so check out the Gena Showalter Official Website for more great books and eBooks.com for your digital copy (it's only available in digital format) of Darkest Fire.
